朝、随分と遅くなった日の出がようやく見え始めた頃、重くなりがちな足どりを少しでも軽くするために、私は音楽を聴く。
こんな朝に聴くのは、最近ずっとTMGEだ。

私がきちんとTMGEを聴いたのは、とてもとても愚かなことに、アベフトシ逝去のニュースが流れてからだった。
ラジオから流れてきた曲がものすごく格好よくて、その曲がスモーキンビリーというTMGEの曲であるということ、そして、そのバンドはもう聴けないことを知った。
『This is it』への熱狂や、忌野清志郎への追悼ムードへ感じる複雑な感じが、そのまま反射した形での後ろめたさを感じながら、TMGEを聴いている。
この朝に聴いていたアルバムは"SABRINA HEAVEN"。
その中の"メタリック"という曲を聴いていて、「詩情」ということについて考えた。
きっかけとなったのは、同曲のこの一節。
人を愛したときにはさ
人種とか国籍とか
性別とかそんなことは
ポテトチップスぐらいなもの

なんというか、歌詞だけだとこの曲自体から受ける印象とは随分と異なるのだけれど、それはおくとして。
この「ポテトチップスぐらいなもの」というのでしか表せないものこそが、詩情なんだろうな、と感じたのだ。
どういうことかというと、「ポテトチップスぐらいなもの」という表現を聞くと、つい「どういう意味で？」と問いたくなる。
「人種とか国籍とか性別とか」にはある性質があって、そして「ポテトチップス」にもある性質があって、その両者の性質が重なり合っていて、かつその両者においてその性質が重要な意味をもつ、という意味において、「ぐらいなもの」という表現を使っている、とか。
それは間違いではない、おそらく。
論理的といわれる思考はそのようになされるのだろう。
しかし、この部分の歌詞にはそのような思考方法では決してたどり着けないものがある。
ポテトチップスのように軽いとか、ジャンクなものだとか、何より簡単に割れてしまうこととか、そういう言葉を幾ら重ねても、決してたどり着けない余剰がこの表現にはあるように思うのだ。
つまり、「ポテトチップスぐらいなもの」という表現でしか表せないもの。
それは「つまりはこの重さなんだな。」（梶井基次郎『檸檬』）としか表現できないものであったり、「あぢさゐの花」（萩原朔太郎『こころ』）としか表現できないものであったりするのだろう。
比喩という表現がもつ豊かさとして当然のことなのだろうけれど、つい、「そのココロは？」と問うてしまう。その傾向にはある種の乏しさがあることには自覚的でありたいと、そう思った。
そんな、こんな。
